Reception Class

I hope you have all had an enjoyable albeit cold week off! Just a reminder that the children return to school on Tuesday 27th February.

This term will be jam packed with lots of fun and exciting activities as it's only five weeks I'm sure it will zoom by!! We have our wonderful trip to Burwardsly to look forward too (fingers crossed it warms up a little bit!). This half term we continue our water theme from the Sea of Dreams book as we write up our own recitation of the Rainbow Fish, before we move in to pirates in the next couple of weeks. The children will have opportunities to explore different types of writing this term from 'Wanted' posters, to messages in bottles and lists of things needed for a trip on board a pirate ship!

In numeracy we will finish off money by working out change before moving on to explore addition and subtraction more deeply as we count gold doubloons from the pirate treasure! The children will be writing their own number sentences, we will also be looking at doubling and halving numbers.

In R.E we will continue special things as we move towards spring we will look at how God created the world as we explore each of the seven days and ask why each day was special and important.
