Reception news Autumn 2

Date: 5th Nov 2018 @ 8:01pm

What a super start to the first week back. It was so lovely to see all the children excited to return to school and to engage in learning.

The classroom has undergone some changes over the half term break, namely a home area which we have established belongs to the Three Bears after finding bear prints in the classroom this morning! The children were all keen to make a selection of delicious dishes for me this morning at the Three Bears cottage, my favourite one by far had to be egg with a side of lemon!!!

In maths, we have ordered numbers to 20, we are focusing on those tricky teen numbers (We remember to write them as always starting with a one!) as we learn one more or one less than a given number. We have also begun learning the days of the week, this has been aided with an incredibly catchy song the link is below if you would like to see it.

In English, we have started our fabulous new story 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' We will again be using the Talk for Writing process to engage with the text to support our writing.

Today the children have also made stained glass crosses to use alongside our poppies for our Remembrance service this Friday. We discussed what poppies are and what they symbolise as we tallked about the First World War.

Upcoming dates:

  • Remembrance Service Friday 9th November 2pm
  • KS1 and EYFS Parents lunch Wednesday 14th September 12pm
