Week commencing 9th October 2017

Firstly, a huge well done to those children who made it to our Harvest Service. I was incredibly proud of the children in their first church service. It can be quite daunting standing at the front with everyone watching but they handled it very well and I believe the songs were a success, I know I'm still singing away to the 'Singing Vegetables'.

This week will see us continue our phonics sessions recapping the sounds we have learnt so far and using these sounds to make simple CVC (Consonant, Vowel, Consonant) words such as 'sat, pat, pin'. We will also move on to new sounds m, d, g, o, c, k and learning how to from these letters correctly.

In literacy, we will be filming the children using the story map for 'Dear Zoo' as part of our talk for writing as they are now confident retelling this familiar story. In science, we will continue our animal classification work, this week the children will sort mammals and reptiles. Our numeracy focus this week will see us finding 1 more than a given number. We will use an assortment of materials to secure this terminology from the Interactive whiteboard. worksheets along with practical apparatus as we use acorns and conkers!
