Rev Catherine Cleghorn

A Caring Christian Family Where We Grow Together
Let Your Light Shine ~ Matthew 5:16

I am really looking forward to becoming the Vicar of St Peter’s, Leighton cum Minshull Vernon and St Leonard’s, Warmingham.

My background is in teaching. I taught music, mainly in secondary schools, for 12 years before leaving to begin full-time theological education. My ministerial training was “mixed-mode” – I trained at St Mellitus North-West whilst working for St Mary’s in Bowdon.

My curacy in Crewe has given me a deep love for the local area, as well as opportunities to work with many wonderful local church and community partners. Carl and I are really excited about living in your beautiful benefice and getting to know everyone – even if this will need to be in a socially distanced fashion at first.

In our spare time Carl and I enjoy walking and scrambling up mountains, spending time with loved ones, growing vegetables and watching Netflix. Carl also likes building things (sheds, Lego models, 3D printers etc) and I have what I’ve been told is a slightly niche passion for detective fiction in which the solver of crimes is a young (ish) female priest.
Reflecting on the services and activities that you have sustained at this difficult time makes me feel really positive about the ways in which we will all work together to meet the needs of those in our communities and to be beacons of Christ’s hope, joy and peace. I know that we will continue to show the love of God to everyone in our benefice.
