Reception butterflies

The children have really enjoyed watching how our very tiny caterpillars have grown and grown. We read the story of the very hungry caterpillar and made links to our own caterpillars. They were fascinated to see them become chrysalis and that they wriggle inside them like they're in a sleeping bag! This week saw all five of our chrysalis emerge into butterflies. We each observed them in the special butterfly house and discussed their wing colours and how they could use this to camouflage from predators to survive in the wild. Today we will release our caterpillars as their wings have become strong enough for them to fly.
