UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award
We are incredibly proud that Warmingham CE Primary School has been recognised as a Silver Rights Respecting School. This important recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a school environment where every child’s rights are understood, respected and valued, and where children are encouraged to have a voice in matters that affect them.
Rooted in our Christian vision, we seek to live out Jesus’ teachings of love, fairness and justice in our daily school life. By embedding values of dignity, compassion and respect, we empower our children to grow into confident, caring and courageous individuals. This recognition affirms our commitment to nurturing the whole child—supporting not only academic achievement but also personal development—so that every pupil is enabled to flourish in learning and in life.
Building on this achievement, we continue to strengthen our Rights Respecting approach across the school. This ongoing commitment ensures that children learn in an environment that values their rights, listens to their views and encourages them to take increasing responsibility as thoughtful, respectful and active members of our school community.

What is the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA)?
The UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award recognises a school’s commitment to placing the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of its practice. This approach supports children’s wellbeing and helps all pupils to realise their full potential.
The Award is based on the core principles of equality, dignity, respect, non‑discrimination and participation. Since its introduction in 2006, schools involved in the programme have reported positive impacts on relationships, wellbeing and behaviour, leading to improved learning, stronger academic outcomes and reduced bullying.
To achieve the UNICEF UK Rights Respecting School Award, schools work towards four key standards:
- Rights‑respecting values underpin leadership and management
- The whole school community learns about the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
- The school has a rights‑respecting ethos
- Children are empowered to become active learners and responsible citizens

What Is Global Learning?
Global learning is an approach that helps children understand how people’s lives are interconnected across the world. It encourages awareness of global issues and helps children recognise the role they can play in contributing positively to a fairer and more sustainable world.
In 2015, world leaders agreed on seventeen Sustainable Development Goals to improve life for people everywhere by 2030. At Warmingham CE Primary School, we use these Global Goals to support children in exploring relevant global issues and understanding how individual actions can make a difference.
Throughout our curriculum, children’s rights and global awareness are thoughtfully woven into learning, helping pupils to develop curiosity, empathy and a sense of responsibility for others—locally and globally.
