In this final study theme of the year, children will explore the exciting and meaningful concept of superheroes, inspired by the story 'Supertato' by Sue Hendra. Through this playful and engaging text, children will begin by identifying traditional superheroes and their characteristics before deepening their understanding to recognise that real-life superheroes exist all around us.

The theme will support children in reflecting on people who help us in our everyday lives, such as family members, teachers, emergency services, and community helpers. Alongside this, children will celebrate their own achievements and recognise how they themselves have become “superheroes” through their learning, resilience and growing independence throughout Reception.
