We will focus on settling into school routines, building positive relationships and developing a sense of belonging within our classroom community. Through games, circle times and shared activities, children will have opportunities to make new friends, learn each other's names and begin working and playing together cooperatively.

Children will be encouraged to talk about experiences that are familiar to them, sharing stories about their families, celebrations, favourite activities and special memories. This supports the development of communication and language skills while helping children to understand and appreciate similarities and differences between themselves and others.

As part of our learning, we will study our families and homes, discussing who lives with us and what makes our families unique. Children will begin to make sense of their own life story and family history, looking at photographs and talking about important events from their past. We will also explore how homes have changed over time, comparing homes from the past with those we live in today.

To help children develop an understanding of their local community, we will investigate where we live, creating simple maps and exploring our local area. Children will learn about familiar landmarks, routes and places that are important to them, helping them develop an awareness of the wider world around them.

Throughout the theme, learning will be supported through stories, role play, creative activities, discussions, outdoor exploration and opportunities for children to share their own experiences. Our aim is to help every child feel confident, secure and proud of who they are while building strong foundations for future learning.
