Boreatton Park April 2026

Lesson: Learning Outside the Classroom

Class: Squirrels (Year 3/4) Year: 2025 - 2026

As Explorers, Squirrels and Badgers’ Class have been busy adventuring at Boreatton Park, they have shown incredible enthusiasm, courage and teamwork throughout a truly memorable residential experience.

Over the course of the trip, the children challenged themselves with a wide range of exciting activities including raft building, giant paddle boarding, archery, fencing, problem solving tasks, the zip wire, Jacob’s Ladder, the giant swing, climbing wall and rifle shooting.   Each activity encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones, try something new and support one another every step of the way.

Residentials like this are a powerful opportunity for children to build confidence, resilience, independence and teamwork.   Whether communicating clearly while building a raft, trusting others on the giant swing, persevering up the climbing wall or thinking creatively to solve challenges together, the children developed valuable life skills that reach far beyond the classroom.

This experience also strongly links to our Rights Respecting ethos. Under Article 29, children have the right to an education that develops their personality, talents and abilities to the full, while Article 31 highlights every child’s right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of activities. Active residentials such as Boreatton Park bring these rights to life, helping children grow socially, emotionally and physically in an environment that promotes respect, wellbeing and enjoyment.
