Squirrels’ Sea Dance

Squirrels’ Class have created a beautiful sea-inspired dance using two contrasting pieces of music - one evoking the calm sea, the other a stormy ocean. Through movement, they explored how music can influence mood, feel, and speed. The calm piece encouraged slow, flowing gestures and meditative balances, helping them feel grounded and serene. In contrast, the stormy music brought energetic, fast-paced movements that reflected the chaos and intensity of a turbulent sea.

As part of the experience, the children learned a variety of relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, gentle stretching, and mindful stillness. These were woven into the dance to help them recognize how their minds and bodies respond when they are busy and energetic versus when they are calm and still. By practicing these techniques, children gained awareness of how to apply them in everyday life to manage feelings of anxiousness and restore balance.
